Review: Missha BB Boomer

Hey Everyone,
So as most of you know i bought a few Missha products at the boxing day sales, this is the first review for the BB boomer cream.

I already hinted that i love this cream and after using it a few times, i really can't find anything wrong with it! Definitely a great buy. I have been using the Mac prep and prime before this one and i HATE it!! worst primer, it does absolutely nothing for your skin, it kind of makes me feel like im just paying for glitter.

The cream as its name suggests is a primer for bb creams or as im using it as a primer for foundation. It boast a moisturising effect and more radiant skin.

First impressions: the cream is very light weight and silky. It comes out of the tube somewhat quickly in a very thin line (not sure if that makes sense... but see picture below) which is good because you really don't need very much.

I love how this cream sits on my skin its so lightweight and it creates a kind of veil over your pores, so your skin is left with an almost airbrushed look. And it doesnt leave any residue 'so your foundation goes on perfectly.

The Cream is a white colour but when rubbed in slightly it gives a kind of pinkish glow (very hard to capture on camera) which i think is what helps it give you that slight airbrushed look.

As for helping your foundation last longer, it really does help. Your still left with perfect foundation at the end of the day. It does moisturise your skin a little, but definitely not enough to skip your normal moisturiser (especially if you have dry skin like me)

If there was one beauty product that id say everyone should have, this would be it!

Rating: 5/5

For those of you who don't have a Missha store nearby, you can try:

Both websites have a limited range, but they usually stock the bestsellers.

Boxing day sales haul

Every year i go boxing day sale shopping, i love getting some of the one day only bargains.
This year i thought the sales were pretty lacking, most of them started before Christmas so they only had the odd stock left (the large sizes and strange colours). Plus i don't think i have ever seen Sydney so crowded! you could hardly move!

If i am here next year i think i will probably give it a miss. I didn't get very much this year, but i thought id share with you what i got, everything was 50% off except the Missha make up which was 20%.

What i bought in the city: Missha items had 20% off: primer, blush and nude lipstick. I absolutely love all three of these, i tested them out today, best primer ever! and a pair of suede nude Siren shoes, look fantastic with fake tan.

The shoes and Missha items again, plus what i got in Chatswood.
Super basic top, with cute frills from Kookai to wear to work.
Gold earrings from my absolute favourite store, Mouche.
And a Lush gift set which and their Daddy-o violet shampoo which is meant to be pretty good.

The little red bottles are some Christmas themed body wash from Bath and Body works which my Friend visiting from LA gave me, got these while boxing day shopping so i added them to the haul shot.

Reviews of the Missha and Lush items to come.

Audrey inspired hair

Audrey Hepburn inspired hair

I love Audrey Hepburn, she is absolutely gorgeous! and her style was so elegant and timeless.

So as it is summer here and wearing your hair out is not really a sensible option most of the time and pony tails and buns just get a bit boring. I love to pull my hair back into this Audreyesque style, its super easy, take about 2 mins and is perfect for the office!

So the whole idea is to sweep the hair back with an elevated crown.
If your going to wear this style all day i defiantly suggest back combing the top section of hair.
 How to:

1. Divide you hair into 4 sections, top, 2 sides and a back. If your hair is super thin like mine you probably don't need the back section.
2.Grab the top middle section of your hair, this is what you will sweep over to get the 'bump'
3. Back comb or tease the bottom side of this section, if you are after more height you can back comb the hair at the crown of your head as well.
4. holding the top section at the crown of your head sweep the hair left at either side back and up to meet it.
5. the back: you can finish however you like by twisting your hair into a bun, or just securing it with a butterfly clip.
I like to get the shorter sections at the front and work them free so they can sit around my face.

Sorry first Hair tutorial, so hopefully i made some sense...

Review - BRTC gold caviar bb cream

This review is long over due, i bought this quite awhile ago off sasa.com

BRTC and this cream imparticular seemed to be one of the most popular bb creams on the market. As i am fairly new to bb creams i thought it was best to try a few well known brands to start off with. Another reason why i got this one is because it is meant to be one of the darker bb creams on the market.

This cream has a ridiculously high spf of 50 and also boasts skin whitening, moisturising and anti aging effects.

I like the darker colour of this cream, so it is great for summer when you are a little bit more tanned. unlike most bb creams it has a light liquid texture and because it is more of a liquid then a cream, it is super easy to spread and blend in.

I did find this cream to be a lot oiler then other bb creams i have tried recently, so it needs a little while to set and you defiantly need to apply a powder on top.

Another disadvantage caused by the oiliness of the cream is it does tend to come off in the heat quite easily and go a little oily on your face. It will stay on well if you don't stay outside for too long tho... This is a huge downside for me, as i bought this to wear in summer (30degrees+ weather).

So i still kinda like this product, but will probably try a lower spf one in their range which should hopefully be less oily.

Rating: 3/5

Not for those of you with oily skin! For the rest of us, keep some blotting paper on hand when the temperature rises.

Sweets for my sweet - Chocolate cupcake with Vanilla icing

The other day i made some oh-so cute chocolate cupcakes with rich vanilla icing. I love cupcakes and all the super cute decorations you can do on them. My cake decoration skill really aren't that great, but it really is all about how they taste.

I thought id share with you this simple cupcake recipe (you can adapt it to any flavour or variation) :

  • Ingredients:
  • 2 cups self-raising flour, sifted
  • 3/4 cup caster sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk (i used soy milk)
  • 125g butter, melted, cooled
  • 2 x 59g eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Queen Natural Vanilla Essence
  • (For the chocolate ones i made, omit 1tbs of SR flour and the vanilla essence and add 1tbs of coca powder)

Method:
  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (conventional, fan forced can prevent them from rising) . Grease or place patty cases into a 12 cup muffin/cupcake pan . Combine dry ingredients in a bowl, make a well in the centre.
  2. Add milk, butter, eggs and vanilla to flour mixture, use a beater or whisk to mix ingredients. You want to try and get a nice light mixture.
  3. Spoon mixture into prepared muffin pan. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Stand in pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.
You can eat as is or add icing :)

Ingredients:
  • 250g unsalted butter, at room temperature, chopped
  • 3 cups pure icing sugar, sifted
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla icing

Method:

  1. Using an electric mixer, beat butter until white and creamy. Add icing sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, and mix well. Add enough milk to make icing spreadable.
  2. Spread over cakes with flat knife or with a piping bag.

Then decorate to your hearts content!

Hope you all have fun making (and eating) these!

Tips:
try to use full fat milk, the extra light watered down milks will result in less creamy cupcakes.
Do not mix the dry icing sugar! gently mix it into the butter first, otherwise you will end up with icing sugar all over the kitchen.
If you don't have a piping bag, you can cut the corner off  a zip lock bag. Works just as well.

Review - Sasatinnie bb cream

Recently i bought the Sasatinnie bb cream off sasa.com, for around $10USD. Coming into summer here i really wanted to get a lighter foundation with a really high SPF to wear during the hot sunny summer days.

The cream is a very light beige and a thick sunscreen like consistency, making it a little hard to blend in. I got the unfragranced version but even this one seems to have a slight floral fragrance and sunscreen smell to it.

The product does boast about whitening your skin, and it does do it pretty well because of the very light colour of the cream and the high spf rating which reflects light off your face making it appear lighter.

Although it does only offer a very light coverage, with only a little reduction in redness. And with the thick consistency it is quite hard to layer it to increase the coverage.

one thing i loved is that it does dry very quickly and evenly, so you can apply powder on top instantly. The fragrance fades after a few hours which is good, because it actually irritates my nose a little. I have found now that the product has been opened for a few weeks, that the products fragrance has faded.

Swatches: blob of product, then half rubbed in on the right (you can see it is very reflective!)

This product does have some benefits: quick drying, no greasy feel or appearance, long lasting.
However, it does have a strong fragrance for a facial product, minimal coverage of redness and marks.

Depending what you are looking for, this could be a pro/con: slight whitening effect

This isn't my favourite BB cream, but would be really good for those looking purely for a face whitening cream.

Sigma - NEW Bunny collection

The Bunny Collection
Launch Date: December 5, 2011

The Bunny Collection is Sigma Beauty’s vegan friendly line of brushes. The collection will feature a full-size and travel-size kit. The full size kit will contain the twelve brushes sold in our Essential Kit, all made with the Sigmax HD fibers. The travel-size kit contains seven best selling brushes from the Essential kit. Both kits will be held in a Sigma Beauty container that turns into two brush holders.

I love the look of the baby Blue and pink ones, super cute!! Some of my makeup brushes are defiantly creeping up on their use by dates, so I'm seriously considering buying the full size kit. I think the small travel size handles would just annoy me.

Sigma have released a few other lines recently such as the cities, but I just love this colour!
