Dermalogica launch event - Age Smart Multivitamin Serum

Recently Dermalogica held a launch party for their new Multivitamin Power Serum from their Age Smart Range.
The Serum uses HPR (Hydroxpinacolone Retinoate) to intercept the earliest signs of aging as well as innovative encapsulation technology to deliver more stable actives (vitamin A, C, E and F) deeper into the skin.

Dermalogica boasts a product with quick results , reducing fine lines and wrinkles, increasing your skins natural collagen production to stimulate cell turn over (aka firmer skin), as well as reducing dullness and pigmentation.

The Multivitamin Power Serum is designed to prevent and reduce the signs of ageing  through strengthening the skin. So it is suitable for both those with early signs of aging and those with mature skin.

We also go a Sneak Peak at the new collaboration between Kit Willow and Dermalogica. This limited edition Leather Clutch with Age Smart Deluxe Samples will be available from April 1st with purchases over $100.

A percentage of sales from the Willow for Dermalogica Collaboration will go towards joinFITE, to provide women in developing countries access to small business loans to start or grow a business.

Goodie bag  from the night :-)
Limited edition Kit Willow for Dermalogica clutch with deluxe samples from the Age smart range,  Solar defense booster SPF 50+, samples tailored for my skin and of course the new Age Smart Multivitamin Power Serum.

I'll share reviews of all these goodies with you when i get a chance to try them all out.

Outfit for the event, bardot skirt, Supre crop.
I just love how toned my arms look in this, it makes me want to keep on track with my fitness regime :-)

15 fun beauty facts

Just some Fun Beauty facts:

  1. Avocado oil doesn't just conceal sun damage, but actually reverses it - there’s no other oil in any market anywhere else in the world that does that.
  2. Benefit Benetint originally called Rose Tint, was created in 1977 for an exotic dancer as a nipple stain. Today it’s more conventionally used as a lip and cheek stain.
  3. Pores can store dirt and oil up to 20 years old. YUCK! definitely an incentive to wash your face!
  4. You are 13 times more likely to develop a nickel allergy if your body is pierced in materials like stainless steel. Once a nickel allergy is triggered, there is no cure
  5. The number of pores on your face is around 300,000, with studies showing that pores on our face typically double in size from age 25 to 50.
  6. Cleopatra used honey on her skin because of the antibacterial effects of honey
  7. Ella Baché was the first cosmetic chemist to use tomatoes in her formulas in 1936, after noticing the effect tomato extract had on the skin in young girls in Hungary.
  8. Contrary to popular belief, oil is beneficial for problematic skin. It has the ability to break down and dissolve the oil trapped in hair follicles.
  9. New research has discovered that around 1.5 million diamond nanoparticles are created every second in a candle flame as it burns. Now if only there was a way to harvest these.....
  10. A drop in female hormone levels can lead to hair thinning because it causes an imbalance in the female/male hormones ratios. The increase in testosterone reacts with an enzyme in the scalp, creating a by-product that starts to kill off the hair follicle until it falls out and affecting the follicle’s chance of re-boosting another hair.
  11. In order to enhance her looks to attract the man she was in love with, Mabel Williams applied soot from her oil lamp to her lashes to darken them. Her younger brother then formulated a safer mix of carbon dust and Vaseline which later led to Maybelline (Mabel + Vaseline).
  12. It takes six people eight hours to come up with the name for 12 OPI shades.
  13. The average age females start shaving is 15 years old
  14. Scars can take a year or longer to finish forming.
  15. Schwarzkopf launched the world’s first liquid shampoo in 1927 and the first ever crème shampoo in a tube in 1949. Imagine life before liquid shampoo!

Review - Dermalogica Ultra Sensitive Tint SPF 30

I was lucky enough to be given one of Dermalogicas new products to test out at their launch party. I loved the whole range of their new Sun protection products; so it was hard to pick just one. but I decided to try out their tinted moisturiser, Ultra Sensitive Tint SPF30, as I am a huge fan of BB creams and like a lighter alternative to foundation in summer.

The tinted shield is designed to protect you against the suns harmful UVA and UVB rays while also providing your skin with nutrients to help restore it, with an added hint of colour.

Zap that Zit Before The Day is Up

Luckily I rarely get pimples, but lately due to over consumption of sugary products... i have found a few pimples (or zits if your American) on my forehead.

So first off Blemish on your skin is your bodies way of telling you that there is something off internally (i.e. your diet, illness or maybe its just that time of month) and always make sure you wash your make up off and let your skin breath! So before you start stocking up on expensive and harsh blemish fighting products you should look at these areas first.

One product i love is the Witch skin care (short for Witch Hazel)  Naturally clear blemish stick. Its an all natural blemish fighting stick!

It comes in this small push up tube, it works just like a push pop (just don't eat this one) the actual stick is the same colour as the casing, aquamarine with a very mild alcohol smell. You can dab this on both under and over your make up as it works to absorb excess oil on your skins surface and kill bacteria.

You can apply this as many times as you want throughout the day, so if you've got a big event coming up you can pop it in your purse and apply as needed. And don't worry it doesn't leave behind any residue.

Priceline - Beauty is in the bag

Priceline have recently been running these beauty is in the bag promotions, where if you spend around $50 on selected brands you can pick a up a huge goody bag full of full sized products, discounts and samples.

I was really tempted to get the hair care bag when they had it, but just couldn't justify spending $50 on hair products when none of mine are even close to running out. This time around i actually needed some face wash and it really is hard to spend $50 at priceline! so i picked up the beauty bag.

And OMG i have to say you get soooo much in the bag! everything is full sized and good products, you kind of expect them to give you some discontinued lines or some less popular products, but they didn't. If they do have another beauties in the bag, or you local priceline still has a few of these i really suggest getting one! you will have enough beauty products to last you a year!

I think i will keep some of these for a blog giveaway in the not to distant future...

I tried not to go overboard with buying things, luckily i had my boyfriend there, otherwise i would have come home with probably more then double the amount of beauty items.

Lust Have it - May items

Last week i received my first Lust Have it Box. I have wanted to sign up to one of these sample boxes for awhile but was really unsure which one to go with. And with the two brands i was tossing up between joining forces last month, Glossy box and Lust have it, I finally decided to sign up.

So for those of you who don't know what these sample boxes are, Lust Have it offers you 6 'Luxury' samples a month. They call them 'Luxury' because they are usually larger sample sizes or even full size items.

You do have to sign up for a 12 month subscription, but this is paid monthly and can be cancelled at any time. Which is perfect! so if you find you don't like/use any of the products you can cancel your subscription.

I was pleasantly surprised by my first box, which came in a cute pink make up pouch with:

Dove's Ad Makeover campaign

Dove has recently launched its Facebook Campaign 'Ad Makeover' Dove has designed a Facebook app which lets you replace unwanted Facebook ads with those of positive body image messages.

I personally think its a fantastic idea! All too often like i'm sure many women do, i have a 'fat' day, where i just feel so blah and the idea of wearing anything figure hugging or remotely tight make me just want to crawl up in bed and face the world another not so fat day .

And when you are bombarded by weight loss ads all over the internet and super skinny airbrushed models everywhere you look, its no wonder many of us suffer from the dreaded 'fat' day.

You can view the campaign video below and i encourage all of you to give it a go, send some much needed love to other women!

Lip balm Comparison - Maybelline vs Burts Bees

I always struggle to wear lipsticks and lip glosses because I suffer from extremely dry lips. They usually flake off or the colour sinks into cracks in my lips and either way it ends up looking horrible in no time at all.

I am always looking for a lip balm that I can wear by itself to help heal my lips and also one I can wear under lipsticks to add some moisture.

I recently bought the Maybelline Baby lips in Energizing orange and was lucky enough to be given a Burts Bees l00% natural Lip balm to test out. So I though I would do a comparision on the two, as they are meant to do essentially the same thing, moisturise and soften your dry lips.

The best body moisturiser

I love the st ives range of skin care products. I had been using their exfoliating face wash for years when they expanded their range to body moisturisers.

Granted they have been on the market for a few years now, but they are definitely my favourite moisturiser of all time!
The range is all paraben free, super fast absorbing and the favoured ones smell great! I just restored with the oatmeal and she's butter one.

The size of the bottles is great as well they come in huge 621ml bottles which last you around a year. They last so long because of how little you need to apply to gain the benefits of the moisturiser. Another plus as they are super fast absorbing you can apply them in the morning without it rubbing off on your clothes or making your hands gooey when you wash them.

I seriously don't have anything bad to say about this product! This really is a must buy beauty product, and at only $7 you can definitely afford to give it a try

Daiso Opens in Chatswood!

I was lucky enough to check out the new Chatswood Daiso store today for its pre-opening. the Store opened its doors from 12pm-2pm offering shoppers the chance to win a $1000 voucher and a goodie bag with each purchase.

I absolutely loved 100yen shops when i was in Japan, they sold everything! and all so cheap. I was super excited to check out the Australian store. The Australian version sells everything for $2.80, because of exchange rate shipping, Australian wages/rent and so on.
But still $2.80 is pretty cheap!

The shop itself is nothing special, cheap plastic racks and fittings, narrow aisles, but it is huge and stocks just as much stuff as the 100yen shops in Japan. I was disappointed about one thing though, no food! I was looking forward to getting some cheap yummy Japanese lollies or chips. I'm not sure if this was because they hadn't put this stock out yet, as some of the shelves were empty, or their just not planning on selling the food here.
