LookFantastic.com First purchase Haul

Last Week i made my first ever purchase on Lookfantastic.com, a British based beauty website. They sell high end to drug store brands from around the Europe and America.

So is it cheaper then buying in store?
Yes and no, some items like OPI are around the same price in AUS as they are on lookfantastic, some items like Kerastase are a little cheaper. And then there are the brands that are super hard to find anywhere (i.e. nails inc)

The real trick with this website is to sign up to their email notifications, as they frequently have 25% sales and with free world wide shipping, it ends up a lot cheaper then buying the goods here. The package took about 2-3 weeks to reach me here in AUS.

Protecting your costume jewllery

I am a huge fan of costume jewellery, it allows you to dress up any outfit for next to nothing!

The only problem is it doesn’t last very long.

As most costume jewlery is made out of cheap metals coated in plastic or paint, the colour comes off when it comes into contact with water or chemicals in you perfumes/moisturisers.

The cheaper metals used in these pieces oxides very easily, so once the protective coating comes off they leave green marks all over your skin/clothing. While the green rust does wash off your skin pretty easily and will come off most clothing, it can look pretty sketchy.

So to help your costume jewellery last longer, follow these easy tips!

After you purchase any rings, before wearing them, wipe them down with a glasses cloth, or a tissue  to remove any dust and dirt. Then give the inside that comes into contact with your skin a good coat of a clear nail varnish. You can apply all over the ring if you want, but try to avoid the plastic stones, as the nail varnish can eat at the surface of these slightly giving them a cloudy look.

You can also do this to the undersides of necklaces and bangles, coating any of the surfaces that come into contact with your skin.

To help them last longer:

• Spray your perfume a few minutes before or let your moisturiser dry completely before you put on any of your jewellery. Also spray your perfume on spots you aren't wearing jewlery, so if you are wearing a bracelet on your wrist, put your perfume on your elbow crease instead.
• Always take your jewellery off before washing your hands, showering or swimming as the water and soaps can deteriorate the coating.

Review - Nicole by OPI nail strengthener

I bought this bottle of Nicole by OPI nail strengthener when I was in Hong Kong, I have never seen this sub brand back here in Aus and was keen to give it a try.

The polish is thick and creamy coloured, giving you a nice nude semi gloss look when worn by itself. So you can hardly tell you have anything on, would have been perfect for back in the day when i wasn't allowed to wear polish to school.

Flash

 It goes on nice and easily, no streaks, bubbles or clumps. And it stays on really well, with no flaking or peeling off.


After a few weeks of use the splitting/cracking at the ends of my nails has reduced, so i am growing them nice and long now ( which is hard because I keep breaking my thumb and forefinger on my invisaligns, grrr!!!)

No Flash

Best of all, like all OPI nail polishes it doesn't contain: Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), or Toluene. The three toxic nasties usually found in nail polishes.

Rimmel - I heart fruities lasting finish nail polish - Review

I am such a sucker for advertising! 

I couldn't resist trying out Rimmel's cute nail polishes which are meant to have a slight fruity smell. And Priceline was out of my favourite Sally Hansen polishes.

I was in a rather summery mood today, even though it was raining all day, so i got these two bright coloured polishes:

025 Strawberry fizz

053 Apricot punch

You can see what they look like on, should look better when i have a bit more of a tan in summer.
The colours are very bright and strong, but still require two coats, so you don't see the white tip of your nail through the polish.

There not the easiest polish to apply i had some problems with streaking, but after two coats its not noticeable.

The Smell:
the polish itself, straight out of the bottle doesn't smell, except of nail polish, but they actually do have a fruity smell after they have dried. It took about 1/2h for the polish smell to subside so you could actually smell the fruitiness. The strawberry one smells so nice and is a fair bit stronger than the Apricot one, they remind me a bit of lipsmackers. I've only had it on for a few hours and the fruity smell is still there, i wonder how long it will actually stay.


Overall i like this product, the bottles are nice n small that you can restock with different colours when the seasons change and they are nice and cheap (about $5 a pop).

Only one thing left to see, the lasting effect...
