FUKUBUKURO - LUCKY SALE BAGS JAPAN 2013

 Japanese fuku (福, good fortune/luck) and fukuro (袋, bag). = Fukubukuro

Fukubukuro is used to refer to the 'lucky dip' sale bags that a lot of Japanese stores release on New Years day. The bags aren't just for clothes, they can also be for food, cosmetics, electronics and well pretty much anything!

They generally cost around 1,000 yen to 10,000 and have any number of items in them with the goods being valued up to 10,000 yen, some stores even produce special bags/suitcases for their Fukubukuro. They are like a luck dip because you don't know what items are inside each bag or the value, but that's half the fun

It is well worth a look at if you are in Japan around new years.

The fuku comes from the Japanese saying that "there is fortune in leftovers" (残り物には福がある). Popular stores' fukubukuro usually are snapped up quickly, Shibuya 109 in Tokyo will have a line wrapping around the block with customers eagerly awaiting the New years sales.

You will often see people set up a make shift swap shop outside large stores, to swap the contents of their Fukubukuros.

Benefit Cosmetics Online Haul

If you're like me and you don't live in America, Benefit cosmetics prices can be pretty steep!
I find it hard to resist there oh-so-cute! packaging

Finally catching up on some blog posts which my computer troubles have prevented me from doing the past few months.

A few months ago i discovered that benefitcosmetics.com ships internationally, so you can finally enjoy the super cute cosmetics without the outrageous international markup. The website also has a sale section which you wont find at the benefit counters here.

The shipping is free for international orders over $125, or you can sign up for email alerts for promos with lower free shipping or freebies.

My Benefit Haul - Christmas boxset Perk up and away containing;
 Fullsize Posietint, Dandelion blush, Watts up highlighter and deluxe sample of the Pore Professional and the new mascara they're Real two of their cult products.
Coralista blush
High Brow glow

The Entire Haul cost just over what two Benefit blush cost in Australia (which are $54AUD each double the American price of $28). The best part is you can still try before you buy, as there is a benefit counter in most Myer stores now.
